Huntley's of Samlesbury
Maize Maze Assoc.
In the summer of 2009 we were approached by Huntley's of Samlesbury, a well established farm shop and restaurant. They asked us to explore the possibility of using miscanthus as an alternative crop for a maze - we readily accepted the challenge and imediately set about creating a whole new theme that would fit with this unusual maze - as far as we are aware, this is the first time miscanthus (or elephant grass as it's commonly called), has been used as a maze crop.
Maize Maze Association - Website
Maize Maze Assoc. The Maize Maze Association, formed in April 2008, were keen to build a web presence as quickly as possible. Mazescape were honoured to be asked to coordinate the construction of the website which was to be primarily a central location for the public to easily locate their nearest quality maize maze. This fairly large undertaking was completed within 12 weeks and the site is now the top google result for the search term maize maze.
2009 Maize Maze Season - Mazes and Theme
Maize Maze Assoc.Every year Mazescape designs over 30 maize mazes around the world, central to this is an annual theme that is completely devised by us to include an interesting storyline and set of characters - for 2009 this was 'MazeTrap: Rise of the Junk Monsters'. The theme had a strong ecological core, helping to deliver the message of sustainability in a fun and exciting way. The theme was also tied into the UK national curriculum to help intice schools to the maze sites as an outdoor educational activity.
